A Proposal I Never Thought I'd Consider.
Wow. What a passage. I have no clue how hard it would be to come from a culture where marriage is arranged. However, I'm not sure if it's not such a bad idea. Living in a western world, trying to live by her families codes was a hard thing for this author to do, yet she did it not to please herself but to repect her parents. In my opinion that is one of the most honorable things a child can do-- respecting your parents. Though she struggles with the decisions before her, she knows ultimately the two paths before her are pleasing her parents, or pleasing herself. Tough stuff.

I believe respecting your parents is a key factor within a "family"! Yet if your parents wont give you the chance to decide whom you want to marry, then it shows little repect on their part! its hard to give it away, when its not recieved! Growing up in a lifestyle like such, would be difficult but if your accustomed to it, and your fine living by such strict laws, i guess it would be fine!
